Ichigaya Letterpress Factory, Tokyo, Japan
東京都・新宿区・市谷の杜 本と活字館
While walking around Ichigaya in the Shinjuku Ward of Tokyo, Japan, my wife and I randomly came across the very interesting Ichigaya Letterpress Factory today.
It is a museum that showcases the challenges of printing Japanese before the advent of the computer age and desktop publishing (one needs to select from more than 2,500 characters!). We also did a fun hands-on experience printing color on a bookmark with a manual letterpress, and had a coffee decorated with topical latte art.
