Hyogo Daibutsu, Kobe, Japan

兵庫県・神戸市・兵庫大仏

The Hyōgo Daibutsu in Kobe is known as one of the three big Buddhas in Japan, in the same class with the Nara and Kamakura Daibutsus.

The original statue at Nōfukuji Temple in Kobe had been melted down in 1944 for the ‘Metals recovery ordinance’, and was replaced in 1991 with the current version which is 11 meters tall, and weighs in at 60 tons.

Shot with Nikon D7000 and Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Edited in Lightroom 5.7.
