Inner Yard, Dazaifu Tenmangu, Japan

福岡県・太宰府市・太宰府天満宮

Dazaifu Tenmangū in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a shrine frequented by students who visit in order to pray for academic achievement.

This photo was taken in the shrine’s inner yard, where small booths are selling Omamori — amulets that are said to provide various forms of luck or protection. In the case of Dazaifu Tenmangu, a variety of education-themed talismans focusing on successful studies or luck in passing exams are available.

Shot with Mamiya 6 and 50mm f/4 lens on Fujicolor Pro 400H film.
